I’m very excited to be hosting this workshop in Stop-motion animation workshop in Dubai from 11-18 April 2014.   It might be a beginner’s workshop, but it will most definitely be intense, as participants have 7 days to make a 1-minute animation.  I have created a small promo for the workshops to give participants an idea of what you can create:

With the help from my Stop-motion and puppetry mentor Marinda Botha we have developed a hands-on fun course.  Marinda has been the inspiration for this workshop and she will hopefully be joining us in the advanced classes to be held in the future.

Some aspects of the workshop will include:

An introduction to the history of cut-out, shadow and principles of animation. There will be a visit to a secret location to inspire and develop your own personal vision with regards to texture, style, story and storyboard – we will focus 2 days to develop this. You will build a character that supports your story and create a treatment/environment for that character. The final character will be animated and edited into a 1-minute animation, which will form part of a video montage (projection).

Participants will need to bring a camera (may be an iPhone/iPad) and a tripod and the basic computer and camera literacy is required for this workshop.  A laptop will be useful for the editing.  Basic materials will be supplied but you are welcome to bring material from home.

Age restriction: 16
